Not being Shy in Chi-Town

This past weekend I had the chance to attend a conference at the University of Illinois hosted by the African Culture Association. To describe it in one word... PHENOMANAL. It was amazing experience to have schools from all over the MIdwest come and talk about topics that are of interest to each and every one of us.

Since I'm a little extra we decided it would be a great idea to drive an extra 2 hours past the University to Chicago first before we went to the conference, but it was well worth the drive. I've been to Chicago before but have never really gotten to do the touristy things everyone talks about so the first thing we did was go to the bean. And of course we had to have our mini photoshoot there.

As we were there we met the coolest people. The fact that the were so genuine and easy going and actually interested in who we were was what made Chicago even better. It's people like them that make you want to continue to go to new place and experience new things.

I fell in love with Chicago. I've always lived in the midwest and I always said I needed to get out of here for at least a little bit but I might have to stay just for Chicago. What a wonderful and exciting place. The city just brings an essence of belonging for me. I left like I was in my element which is what I have been looking for for a while now. I'll definitely be going back THANK YOU CHICAGO for such a great time, I'll be back soon.

I decided to go for a more dark monotone outfit for the city. Why, you might ask. Well first and foremost it's winter and cool colors are making their comeback. Plus grays and blacks are always a good choice, they always go together and if you get the right pieces you can still look very chick and sophisticated. I have to say the SCARF was a necessitiy in Chicago. It was cold and windy and my poor little head needed the extra covering. So if you decide to hit up the WINDY city in the winter make sure you bring a hat. You may have noticed I'm rocking a quilted backpack. I recently bought it and it was the perfect thing for being out and about. It kept my hands free and it held everything I needed and more. I've been wanting one for a while so I'm glad I got one before this trip. I would highly suggest getting one if you taking a trip. I bought mine for around $20 which is a good price and I know I'll be using it for awhile.

The BEAN is the GREATEST mirror!!!
