This post has been weighing on my heart for some time and I didn't know how to write it in a way that people didn't think that I was calling them fake. I have always been someone who enjoys genuine friendships and relationships. I think everyone can agree with that. (I'm assuming.) A pattern that I am seeing when it comes to different brands or bloggers or whatever it is that they lose their originality authenticity. I'm not the biggest blogger in the world but I pride myself is sticking to my guns and pushing out content that I resonate with. I work with people and brands that I believe in and that I sense are doing things for the greater good of people. It definitely hasn't always been the easiest route to go but it has been worth it. Below I'm sharing some tips on how you can keep it 100 with yourself and your brand.
1 | Learn who you are.
This is the most important thing that you'll have to learn. Throughout my blogging career I have grown and developed into so many different people. But ultimately all the changes I have gone through, have been a part of the journey to learning who I am. It's been tough at times but at 24 years old I think I'm finding out who I am and I hope that you guys are seeing that through my posts.
2| Stick to what you know.
We are not all skilled at everything. Therefore it's so important to stick to what you know and what you're passionate about. For example, I am not the person you would come to if you wanted to know the best hair company and or makeup. I do enjoy these things but it's not my expertise nor do I need it to be. If you want to talk about natural hair, clothes or positivity. I'm the girl for you!! There have been times where I've dabbled into different areas but I couldn't stay consistent, and consistency is key. When you stick to what you know you'll attract people who enjoy those same things, and you'd be surprised ho many people like the same things as you.
3| Be Yourself
In the words of Dr. Suess " Today you are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive that is your than you." That is so real. In this day and age it is so easy to compare yourself and try to be other people. I do not know how those people do it. I feel like it would be exhausting trying to be someone that you're not. I understand that you may not love everything about yourself, but that is a part of who you are. Not everyone is going to like you, but guess what? It doesn't matter. Let's take Rihanna for example, she is out here doing the damn thing with no regrets. When I say this woman could wear a trash bag and make it look good is because she has mastered the art of being herself. People fall in love with who you are. Be transparent, be real, be sincere. No one likes a copy cat.
4| Keep Pushing
Y'all I have had people comment on my pictures saying that I should have more followers and I absolutely agree with them. I put out great content, I'm real, I'm consistent, and I'm active on all my social media accounts. It can become very discouraging when you feel like you're putting all this work in and not seeing results. But I promise that if you keep doing you and putting in the effort eventually things will work out. Right now I'm trying to reach 1,000 followers on Instagram, mind you I've been on there for almost 4 years. I'm sure I could be doing things differently to increase my following. But for right now I'll keep posting and being consistent.
